Re: AC wasn't working, got new compressor, still no AC

No AC due to a bad compressor, And had my local shop install it, still no AC.. Wow.. an expensive bad assumption on your part? And the "shop" can't make it work either? Huh! You might need to look for a new shop. By the way.. A/C system is comprised of 3 sub-systems: 1) Refrigerant (compr...

Re: Advice for a trip to pickup a van.

I once used a van to pickup a pickup.
Towed this vintage 60's truck with tow-bar from Vegas to Florida.. back in the late 70's.
Just out of high-school. Fun times! :D

Sorry.. "best advice" I can give you is leave plenty of braking room between you and traffic!
Safe travels!

Re: Time to do 4x4 swap?

According to the owner, 4wd was used very sparingly. Price is $950 so that’s a go unless the 210K is a red flag. I think you ONLY need the transfer case, not the whole truck.. unless your transmission isn't compatible. I say that because I paid $175 for a Blazer transfer case online (included shipp...

Re: Rear Brake conversion

A lot of money and effort to convert to rear-discs.
I see you kept it 5 lug which is good.

The van looks GREAT! I can see it was worth it!

Re: Battery Relocation

Yes you can parallel batteries.. regardless of where they are located. It is done by manufacturers all the time... particularly in diesels. But when wired this way, if you leave something on and kill one battery, you also kill them both. The alternator will see a heavier load however, but will only ...

Re: G80 issue

I could feel a slight vibration when I was starting off from a stop, like an intersection or something. Mine did that, even on mild straight take-offs.. and I thought my transmission was going bad. Mine turned out to be my AWD transfer case. When I did my manual 4x4 case upgrade... my take-off's we...

Re: What have you done to/with your van today?

UPDATE ON BROKEN WATER-PUMP: Holiday weekend is finally over, and I finally got some time to tackle this project, and see what happened. Here's how it looked when I first opened the hood. As you can see, the pulley is trapped between the pump and the fan. Surprisingly, no damage to anything, and my ...

Re: Power Steering & Brakes Failed At Same Time

The manual says I need to remove the hood latch, but for the life of me I can’t see why. LOL... probably because you'll be leaning over the support to reach the pump. Easy to do, I pull mine all the time. But be sure to mark it first to get it back in same place. I don't know if you need to pull th...

WOW! That's a GREAT extremely LOW-MILEAGE find! Welcome from the opposite corner of the country... Re: What have you done to/with your van today?

My 92 finally let me down. Driving along a local street I hear a bang.. then suddenly lose power-steering and see my alternator light is on. I'm hoping it's just a belt because I always carry a spare. Quickly pull into a church parking lot under a huge shade tree, in case I have to fix it, or wait o...

Ball joints break, spindles break, and now add idler arms break.
It's rare, but it apparently does happen.
