Re: getting my 89 Astro back to New England

I looked into that a few years ago and I found out there are so many scams involved with that industry such as they either will not unload the vehicle unless you come up with another grand or they put it in storage and will keep it there till you pay another 500 and even charge storage. I got quoted...

Re: Mark's rear drive to AWD/4x4 conversion

Yeah I got the right thing. Anyway since my van is an 89 and the AWD frame is a 98 the front brake lines were not useable from either van. I Went to 3 different parts store and finally found a 6 foot section of 3/16 line at Napa which is in another town. Picture of how I did since it was my first ti...

Re: getting my 89 Astro back to New England

I cleaned it checked it as you said its in great shape. the truck it came from was a 91 same year as my transmission and from looking at the truck it was involved in a pretty bad accident which is why it was in pnp. T-boned Is what we used to call. Thanks Bob

Re: getting my 89 Astro back to New England

I posted the link that shows the laws for flat towing in all us states. My van is over 3000 lbs so it is not legal. My goal is to drive it there but I have a ways to go to get it on the road. Luckily I found out why my transmission was not shifting and replaced the problem part. Engine is mounted on...

Re: Mark's rear drive to AWD/4x4 conversion

there was a broken aluminum valve in the valve body and I could not get it out. Not sure what that did to my shifting ability but I replaced it so we shall see.

Re: Mark's rear drive to AWD/4x4 conversion

Went to pnp yesterday and grabbed a valve body for my 700R4 out of a 91 Silverado 4x4 truck I am going to clean it up replace a few items and check all moving parts then install it. My transmission is a 91 also so it will match up. Cost was $53.00

Re: Help and advice on a rust van AKA special needs

pick n pull will sell a frame but make sure you tell them its a sub frame. But you will have to remove the frame, strip the frame of all parts otherwise they will nickel and dime you on every none frame part such as the front differential the control arms, ball joints, torsion bars etc etc. subframe...

Re: Mark's rear drive to AWD/4x4 conversion

So a few years ago I rebuilt my 700R4 and I never did figure out why the reverse was out. However I took it apart again to swap the output shaft to make it AWD. So I found one valve that was stuck, so I tried to get it out and it came out in two pieces. One piece is still stuck in the valve body. No...

Re: L31 Swap questions

Yes I bought one it was rusted due to being stored in a basement I think he said. It was welded very nice I even tried shining a super brite light inside of it in a dark garage to see if any light shined through. It did not. The mounting holes will have to be redone as they were from the V6 pan. I bl...

Re: What have you done to/with your van today?

I ordered the parts I need to make progress on my rear drive to AWD swap. Then I watched a movie. We don't do holidays but since there are no stores open in town I guess its movie day for me.
