Re: Rear end rebuild 1996 7.625

Astrolife wrote:Thanks for the advice, it's good to know what to expect. Do you mean the richmond excel gears in particular? Or just aftermarket setups?

I used the same gears you did. No I meant the 7.5 7.625 rear ends. My brothers -04 pontiac GTO sounded just like the van. He took it in and they said it is normal.

Re: Brake Pedal Shudder, Hard depress, low idle whine.

Yea if it is doing this it either has air bubbles in the system, Check the reservoir as it is running and doing it. Or the pump is going out.

Re: Rear end rebuild 1996 7.625

Looks good. They sing a little when they are new till they break in. So up to 10 thousand miles they actually get a little louder then the wear pattern is broke in. It quiets back down.

Re: Best battery

Overcharging your batteries (looks like almost 16v in pic) may damage them or shorten their lives. Might want to clean up that ground too.. that's a lot of current to pass though a rusty bolt. Good luck My boat is doing the same thing. So I looked it up. It does hurt the batteries. It causes them t...

Re: Are your front ends wearing faster?

Extra weight of the 8 is not going to hurt or wear the front end any faster.

Re: Best battery

Project farm on you tube tested batteries. The wal mart specials are made by some big name brand in a brown wrapper for them. They outperformed the rest even the Optimas.

Re: Oil Pressure Switch Location on 2000 Astro?

You should check it with a mechanical gauge the one in the van is not accurate 90% of the time.

Sender is in back of the engine take the doghouse(engine cover) off to get to it.
