Re: Crossthreaded Oil Plug, is oversized plug best way to fi

Update on using my ecoplug and a hope to get some insight. I changed the oil by removing my ecoplug and then realized that the gear-shaped gasket got stuck in the oil plug drain hole. I used a pick to try to pry it out, but it ended up in the oil tank. Will this cause a problem? Can I keep driving t...

Re: Van stalled when stopped at a light and smelled like gas

OK. Thank you for all the info. My last week of hoping it would go away sort of worked. I didn't have the same problem while idling that I did before, but my van is now starting to drive really rough and went from high 15/16 mpg down to the low 14 mpgs. I'm gonna do a tune up and try to figure out h...

Re: Van stalled when stopped at a light and smelled like gas

My initial guess might be the fuel-regulator leaking inside the plenum.. flooding the engine with extra fuel. Similar to a stuck needle inside a carb, or a stuck choke, causing excessive fuel to the engine. Sometimes with excessive fuel they will still run, but won't idle well. OK. Thank you for th...

Re: Van stalled when stopped at a light and smelled like gas

Thank you for the info. The gas smell only was there for the 5 min or so that I was having the issue. I drove home after I stalled out in town and had no issues while having to hit multiple stop lights but yeah, I'll try to not drive it much til I get this figured out.

Van stalled when stopped at a light and smelled like gas

Hi! My van stalled today when I was at an intersection stopped at a light. I had the radio on but noticed in the background the van sounded weird so I turned it off and noticed it sounded like it was surging, like the it would be normal and then cycle to almost stalling and then back to normal and t...

Re: Broke part when removing steering wheel. Need replacing?

Cool. Thanks for the info. I'm glad I don't need to get yet another part.
Turns out it wasn't the switch but the switch arm actuator. Sadly, it won't be coming until mid week next week. None of my LPS had one.

Broke part when removing steering wheel. Need replacing?

I originally posted this to interior then realized there was a forum for steering, so I deleted it and am reposting here. While trying to remove the steering wheel to replace the turn signal switch, I compressed the lock plate trying to get the clip off but pressed too hard and I accidentally cracke...

Ooops... sometimes I forget to look and see what the OP is driving! :banghead:

I put this off for a while, but I'm finally getting ready to do this in the next couple weeks. Is there a way to replace the switch without pulling the steering wheel on my '94?

Re: Wiring fuel pump to connector, grommets through crossbea

Awesome.i will say again, those round pin connectors were troublesome, many a person/vehicle had problems a day to months later, because pf poor connections, take a pin,or something, and bend down, tighten the contacts on the vehicle side of the connector. The terminals on your new sender are fresh, but d...

Re: Wiring fuel pump to connector, grommets through crossbea

Thanks for the tips on that. My goal was to keep this as simple as possible so I balk at the idea of cutting the wires and creating more connectors, although I can see how it would keep me from having to restring the harness. I attached all the hoses and strung the harness all the way to the plug bu...

Re: Wiring fuel pump to connector, grommets through crossbea

Thank you for your replies. I got the grommets off and have the wiring harness mostly installed. I had to stop because it got dark but will complete it tomorrow. Thanks!

Wiring fuel pump to connector, grommets through crossbeams?

Hi! I installed a new fuel pump and it care with a long wiring harness I traced to a plug beneath the van. The wiring harness goes through 2 crossbeams using plastic grommet things. I've tried finding them online but don't know the right words to search. The plastic seems very worn on them, and I'm ...

Re: Unable to get fuel pump lock ring to lock on my 1994 Ast

Thank you for the info. Autozone had a Spectra lock ring and O-Ring for $3.99. The O-Ring was slightly smaller than the one on the fuel pump (even though it was also Spectra) and it worked like a charm. Took all of 10 min with the right part. I wish I could invoice spectra for all the time I spent f...

Re: Unable to get fuel pump lock ring to lock on my 1994 Ast

I took a break from my project with the hope that all the smoke would clear as I'm working outside. My buddy was supposed to come by today and help me. A second set of hands sounded like it'd help, but the smoke is very bad so he wanted to wait a couple days for it to clear. I decided to play around...

Re: Unable to get fuel pump lock ring to lock on my 1994 Ast

Thank you all for the insight. I have a drift pin and some silicon o ring grease coming on Thurs from Amazon, I'll work on it on Friday. I didn't get any farther tonight. I tried with the old o ring and its the same thing. Can I use that same lube between the two layers of metal? Or is there a bette...
