Re: Airflow issues...with a twist!

So,the first "giveaway" not an astro van made that has a "fresh air filter:. Second, seems like you do not know about the other electric flap control devise,up in the heater unit, that controls air flow.hard to get to,hard to replace. But feel free to pick on me if I got it wrong,i am ol...

Re: leaking steering sector

Yes.It sucks,is a bit time consuming, there is actually 2 seals there(I think, from my old days of being a mechanic),is doable, but you have to ask yourself, why did they fail? This is not a vehicle from the 70's.Most times an exchange box is the way to go.

Re: What have you done to/with your van today?

Hi.And,I am not picking on you,MM,but show me the procedures for "realigning" the driveshaft. Only way to do this is cut off the hollow tube, and re weld(expensive),on a lathe.Re balancing,or even balancing, can be somewhat done on a lathe, but better done in the vehicle.Oh,I almost forgot &q...

Re: Jerry Can Mount Install

Hi,don't think I have ever chatted with you,but maybe did years ago before I got booted off here, lol, so hi again. First, look at your door hinge pins, and how small they are.Up here in the mountains,I would wear them out,or bend them,in 3-4 months of this rough road.Astro doors are thin and light.BUT...

Re: Transfer case problems !!

Very good info from the members here.Saw this a lot,at the dealer, years ago. But, after the 2nd flush,I would not be in a hurry to do it a 3rd time,I would put some miles on it, and let the clutches get heated up, to remove more of the "contaminants".BUT,always remember,do not look for perf...

Re: Quick Release Brackets for ARB Awnings

Nothing I need,Winnie, but your improvements are excellent, logical and on track.Awnings are just kinda rare here, except for newbies, because you have to babysit them, and take them down even if you just want to go jump in the lake for a bit.But the improvements, very good.Out here, people(usually snowb...

Re: intake manifold gasket help

Hi,and welcome,I think I missed that before. Was going to ask a bunch of questions, but,do not feel like being up late and babysitting the PC.So,-1- do not assume you need to replace hoses and other stuff for a bit of grunge in the rad. 2-water vapor is a byproduct of combustion, but if it is a lot,ye...

Re: Need some advice

Well,I agree with the new findings(good catch!), and I will call and apologize to the shop,if you want me to, EXCEPT about needing a new engine. As said,I believe the bracket got dropped in the plenum area, got bounced around, snagged, bent, then rubbed through enough to drop to the pan, well, except there...

Re: Can't align window motor/regulator with rivet holes

Well,i only have probably put in close to 400 GM window regulators. There is enough clearance in the holes to cause issues, and, the regulator binding on the tracks.People think they cannot move it into position,as it binds, but it is binding because of the rollers in the tracks. You have to generally ...

Re: Rear heat not working

It's possible the valve is not opening fully, but rare. But,in my experience, rear heat, same as a/c, is always lesser, being further away from the source, and long lines loosing heat/cool.

Re: URGENT: gear stick won't shift out of park

Glad you got it. Most times it is as said, park pawl in tranny is doing it. However, some info--Astros,and most GM's of this era,the interlock is only engaged when the key is on to the run position. If you turn key on 1 click,no power to vehicle yet, interlock does not engage, and you can shift shifter ...

Re: Wiring fuel pump to connector, grommets through crossbea

Awesome.i will say again, those round pin connectors were troublesome, many a person/vehicle had problems a day to months later, because pf poor connections, take a pin,or something, and bend down, tighten the contacts on the vehicle side of the connector. The terminals on your new sender are fresh, but do...

Re: Convenience Center: Part numbers for pigtails?

Winnie is right, just use terminals. There are specific pigtails,to go into those unused and used ports, but takes a good GM parts person to get the right part number.Several, most common ones, you can find on the net.Otherwise, you have to pay for GM services, for this info.Ypou would think by now this st...

Re: Quick Release Brackets for ARB Awnings

Hey dude, great concept. Several things, most of us would not buy relabeled ARB stuff that is china,anyways.2nd,where I live and camp, flimsy awnings like this do not work.3rd, plastic knobs, instead of having to use a wrench would really be a selling point.OK,all, feel free to slam on me.Take care, winnie.

Re: 12V radio line on all the time

RAP in older vehicles was interesting.i remember Caddys and Buicks, left in peoples garages, for 2 weeks, and batteries were dead. After research(I helped) GM found out if the keys were left in the ignition, would keep the BCM energized,or on,all the time, killing the battery. We also discovered, that in...
