Re: Rear end rebuild 1996 7.625

Slop at the yoke is a relative thing. With very little pressure, you will feel the backlash of the ring and pinion, high pressure you will feel all the slop in the diff. different depending on how you are judging it.I am mystified as to why you needed to go through all the trouble of lead paint,paint...

Re: RUST. Buy or walk away?

Different areas, different climate. My 94 is really rust crappy, underneath, but the body panels are very good.Would be better If I had run it through the car wash regularly. That van looks like a 300-500 dollar van,to me

Re: New here - what’s considered high mileage when shopping

A 2000 Safari with only 180,000 miles for 800 bucks? They are hiding something.A 4.3 properly maintained, generally will go over 300k.When you find out more, I perhaps will respond more.

Re: Window Rubber

Yep, aftermarket, as I said. Look around the inside of the frames, even behind the screens, for a sticker or name of manufacturer.Otherwise, like I said, run van by a caravan distributor.

Well,mark,96 and up the timer is part of the control head.In 94 it is separate, and behind dash, left of the heater control. I got no picture, sorry, but the part number of the connector is 12004099, perhaps you can find a picture of it.

Re: Fark Me, Shop Put Green Stuff in the Dexcool...

Well, as the older "bad" green stuff was eliminated many years ago, and almost all coolant is all models, all makes, and is also OAT, your fears are probably unfounded. The color of it is meaningless, nowadays. Personally, I would never pay the price for dex, I use universal.

Re: Steering knuckle seal?

The part number for the dust seal is 15521904. I also believe it was not used when astros went to 6 lugs,03-05.

Re: Vibration After Journeys 2" Lift?

When you "raise" the front of the van,you generally use spacers. When you "raise" the rear, generally you use shackles. So, the angle of the rear drive line usually does not "coincide"with the change. You may spend a lot of time and money, for a minor issue. Most people ha...

Re: Steering knuckle seal?

I know exactly what you are talking about,it is considered a "dust seal", and perhaps I will research it this weekend.generally, on astros and other CV front AWD's, we just use them over, put some grease around them.

Re: Leaky TigerXL

Wow super nice conversion van!! As far as oil lines, I, being ex-mechanic?,lol, have always been in favor of replacing oil lines with factory oil lines.Times change. I put "factory" lines on my 94, and also in my 91 k2500 camper truck. They both started to leak after 3 years.Low mileage.The...

Re: Rear window door sensors on struts

Hi, and welcome!! OK, my books not at hand, right now, but I think there were at least 3 versions of the dutch door locking/interior light wiring set ups. On a Gen 1, if you have wires going to both sides/struts, 1 is for the interior lamps, 2 is for the door locking system. Pretty sure.
