Re: '99 Safari "Quality" Door Handles?

augidog wrote:ha! mine came "over-recessed" and all I can do is treat it gingerly to avoid busting it.

I try to delicately release the handle, but I forget a lot and they are recessing not so slowly.

Re: '99 Safari "Quality" Door Handles?

I seem to have the same ones as Toskavat. When did you order yours? Mine are less than a year old and already starting to 'over-recess'.

Re: '99 Safari "Quality" Door Handles?

I learned a particular lesson while shopping Bicycles and engines. look for "stock" photos to realize one-maker several re-branders. since I have had good luck with other Dorman products, I went with them for my front door handles. the driver side handle hinge was drilled off-center. it w...

Re: '99 Safari "Quality" Door Handles?

I've got a good sense of which front door handles to buy from the relevant threads

Which ones did you decide on? The Dorman ones I bought are impressively awful.

Re: replacement interior screws - image attached

Woohoo.... They were in good shape / not stripped - all came out easy... just lost some along the way....I will take what you can provide, not in a super rush - it takes me 1 week -5 years to get things done....sometimes sooner or later.... Jose I meant that whatever the screws were screwed into wa...

Re: replacement interior screws - image attached

Maybe 20, I found a home depot one that may work - will report....removed interior pieces and some screws grew legs, may try to paint the tops too....see how it goes / looks. Jose I have a ton of these from taking out my interior. I'm not sure if I need them or not. Do you need these soon? Also whe...

Re: Motor-Assisted Bicycle Adventures. anyone?

Thanks! Yeah I would have chosen a completely different frame if I had known the build was going to become something weighing a few hundred pounds! At least the seat has springs  I put the mirrors on the handlebars tonight. Haha, it's an impressive build regardless. Can't wait to see the fini...

Re: Motor-Assisted Bicycle Adventures. anyone?

Holy sh*t Cargo, that's an insane build! That might be my favorite DIY build! I had looked at those Dolomites for my ebike build but I'm still holding out for a nice full suspension frame. The roads here are crap, and having full suspension makes them so much more pleasant.

Re: Tony's Slow Camping Van

I did some more diagnostics on my clunk issue. It only happens when the transmission is in gear, not in neutral, so I'm definitely suspecting something in the drivetrain. I'm going to try to mount my phone under my van tomorrow and see if I can take a video to understand what's happening.

Re: Tony's Slow Camping Van

I think your new motor mounts will clear all that up. Mine does the same and has been for a year or so now. Having replaced mine within 5 years, I never suspected them. It was smooth after the replacements went in. I'll try those better rubber ones like you purchased. There was some air in the PS s...

Re: What have you done to/with your van today?

New engine mounts are in and transmission got new fluid and filter. Still having a clunk when coming to a stop, so tomorrow I'll be trying to determine if it's driveline, axle wrap, or something else. It's so much quieter at a stoplight though :)

Re: Anyone familiar with oil-based undercoating?

I use Amsoil MPHD Heavy Duty Metal Protector. Aerosol that goes on like oil, and hardens to a wax finish in 24 hours. Spray all my inner panels... trunk, hood, doors. etc. Never did it on the undercarriage, but it would work. When I was a kid, there were shops that would put your ride on a lift, an...

Re: Recurring P0101

Anyway, following up on the P0101 -- took a longer drive and still no code (not pending either) so that seems promising. None of the MAF numbers appear to have changed though. My manual says 7-12.5 g/s is a normal reading for MAF at idle, however when searching for P0101 and looking at what other p...

Re: Anyone familiar with oil-based undercoating?

I recommend you go to the snow plowing websits, and read up.These guys stay up on this stuff. But, fluid film has been a well used product,by them, even though it is not permanent. It does not trap nor hold moisture. Agreed. When I lived in NY, I would apply FF every year in the fall, and it worked as...

Re: Anyone familiar with oil-based undercoating?

My Safari van is one of two vehicles I own. I have been considering getting rid of the other vehicle and keeping the van as my full time, year round ride. The problem is I live in Michigan (rust belt). So my concern is protecting it through the winter. Is anyone familiar with oil-based rust proofin...
