Leaving tomorrow on another road trip…. Installing a diesel heater in 100+ temps does not make sense until I think about the return across the trans Canada highway.

California - Pikes Peak - New Orleans - Pensacola - Cape Canaveral - Brunswick GA - Georgetown SC - Baltimore MD - Philadelphia PA - White Mountains NH - Quebec CA- and back across the teams Canada Hwy….

Time to replenish the sticker collection…

Got on the road two days ago, it’s been a great drive so far.

There are a handful of passes through the Sierra that I can take, but Tioga pass (through Yosemite National Park) is my favorite.

From there I like to head across Hwy120….

Past Benton on to Tonapaugh…

There is along stretch of road in the desert where you can see for about 15 - 20 miles…

I like to wind her up a bit…

Driving across Nevada I saw many of the white dusty vehicles carrying the cool kids back from the Playa….

Today I enjoyed some of the prettiest hwy in Colorado…. Hwy 70 is always amazing. I like to keep my hands on the wheel but managed to grab a couple shots..

Hope to climb Pikes Peak in the morning…

I've driven i70 multiple times in my Safari. That's a beautiful area. Keep the photos coming! Safe travels.

She will sit right at 102, and occasionally 103… I that is the governor kicking in… she still has pedal left.

I have an old Tom Tom GPS (Lola) sits on the dash and keeps her honest.

Driving up Pikes Peak was fun!

It was a twisty road, but I drive mountain roads pretty regularly so the occasional lack of guard rails did not freak me out like some report…

One thing that did happen that was rather funny was when I walking back to the van and a ranger was waiting for me.

He had seen my hood open and thought I might have needed help…

The reason my hood was open was because I was heating up my breakfast on the intake manifold… 🤣

Rolled into Louisiana yesterday…. Was greeted by a rainbow… and the first rain of the trip so far.

Tried something new this trip…. Took the car top carrier box off of the roof and put it on the rack behind the van…. Just checking the fuel mileage so far…

2,599 miles / 127.1 gallons of fuel = 20.4 MPG

kind of a weird route so far…

My LIFTED van is completely smooth and rock stable at ANY speed.
Good tires, alignment, shocks, and suspension.
But I find my fuel mileage drops DRAMATICALLY over 85.. lol
