Hi Astro/Safari people! Can anyone recommend a locking exterior mount for an 11 lb propane tank that would work with Astro dutch doors without having to weld? I don't mind drilling holes in my van, but I don't know how to weld and I don't know anyone else who welds. Or, can anyone recommend a propane locker that would work for that size tank? Grateful for any help!

11 pound tank. I’m confused. I have 20 # tanks and 40# 100 pound tanks as far as mounting check out eBay for multiple mounts that would blot to either door or you tube for under van ideas. Best wishes. I do weld so I would make mine as a bumper attachment. Keep us up to date with what you find.

Is an 11lb tank one of the squat ones taht are about the same diameter as a BBQ bottle; or is it the more slender, but taller tank?

Yes, 11 lb tank. This is what I have. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Flame-King...gw5wSgkNpy03s3LcCXgaAlFWEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

I think I’m just gonna get a hitch cargo basket and secure it really well instead of bothering with something custom.

I find most of the hitch baskets to be rather floppy, from side to side. Even with a U-bolt style hitch clamp, they so not feel very secure.
On the Ford E-350, I finally had some stubby brackets welded to the outer ends of my hitch crossbar, and attached brackets to the basket. They match up so that a single bolt art each end ties the basket to the hitch frame. It does mean I need to use a wrench to remove the basket, but now I can stand on one end of the basket without feeling like I an going to bend it's frame. I also have a home made back step that I use occasionally. It is only 6" or 8" deep, but three feet wide. It also will attach to the same mounts. It is very sturdy.
It was a huge improvement.
