Is anyone familiar with this idea and have any knowledge of the TOPIC. I am looking at "Dana Model 18 or 20 Transfer Cases" for this task I think. At least that is what I would like to use. Any input or suggestion or information would be extremely appreciated.

Thanks Mike.

All I can offer is the tranny from a 96 S10 blazer 4x4 fit in my 97 AWD Astro.
I would think the whole drive train from an S10 4x would fit, you'd just need to find one with a manual box.
I've got no idea what diffs they offered for the S10's

^ You don't need a clutch for a 4x4, so no pedal - he's not talking about a 5 speed. He just needs a place to mount the lever. When he says manual shift, he means for the 4x4. Later Blazers had push-button 4x4.

multiple models would potentially work here. since you say a manual shift lever one that will cut down on the options. first do you want a manual for a specific reason? also will you be changing the front endcomponets or leaving the current drive axle assembly in the front?

I would like a MANUAL shifting TC because I am a bit fed up with ELECTRONIC FAILURES(encoder motors, sensors etc.), electronics have their place but I don't think it needs to be in the TC. I would like to be able to continue to use the existing front axle with perhaps the addition of some reinforcement components. I like the parts I see at the "OVERLAND VANS" and "NOVAK" websites. I am fairly sure that the drive shafts will either require modification or replacement. I am also thinking that the "DANA model 300" TC may make a better choice then the 18 or 20. I am prepared to make the hole in the floor for the shifter and that doesn't bother me. I see that Novak has rebuild kits, adapter components etc for the 18,20 and 300 DANA TC's. All I need is information at this point.
If anyone has working knowledge of these modifications, I would greatly appreciate their input.

My dream would be to pull 1 of my friends Z71 trucks out of the snow bank with my "GOOD OL FAMILY WAGON" LOL.
