From time to time recently, I turn the ignition key and nothing happens. No click, no turning over. The usual dashboard lights are on. The battery is good (replaced last year).

Sometimes I just try again and it starts. Other times I walk away for a few minutes come back and it starts up no problem. The problem seams to be getting progressively worse, takes longer every time it happens. Could this be the starter, ignition switch ?

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Joe

Hi pz7rx8

Yes it could any of those you mentioned.

You need to meter the start circuit to see if in fact their is power getting to the starter itself at the time you attempt to start it. Then you can work out from their.

Check the battery connections for any corrosion and tightness of the cables.

Please keep us updated, and I'm sure others will chime in if they can.:)

As Matrixx said, you will have to put a meter on the purple wire to the starter and make sure you are getting power on that wire. If you do and no start then the starter is bad.

if you don't have power then these are what you will need to look at.

Ignition switch,
Park/Neutral switch,
Starter enable relay (in the underhood fuse-relay center)

Good luck. Let me know what you find so I know what to look for on if my 03 does this.

Greetings @pz7rx8,

What was the resolution to your intermittent start problem?

I just started having the same issue with my 2003 Chevy Astro.

Thanks,
