I'm sure this has been covered but I can't find anything via search.
I have a 2004 Astro and I want to instal a remote starter kit. I have read other posts about doing this on older astro's and having to disable the antitheft system with either a resistor or what they are calling the "relay method". Does this newer Astro have a different system? I noticed that many of the kits from the link people have provided in other threads have a cutoff in 2003, obviously there must be a reason for that and mine is a 2004.
So my questions are:
What exactly is the "relay method" and how does it keep the antitheft functional vs the "resistor method"?
Is there a difference in the 2004 Astro that I need to be aware of?
Is there a kit that is recommended vs a $50-60 dollar Universal Kit?
Is the "relay method" just using a relay to feed the proper resistance value into the yellow "antitheft" wire when the remote starter is activated? And additionally does this resistance adjusted current need to run continuously during engine operation or just when being started?
