Hey all,
As some of you know i've been dealing with transfer case issues for a bit.
I replaced my transmission and the junkyard gave me one from a blazer, in turn cracking my case because the tailshaft was clocked wrong and the crash bar was put under stress.
my TCCM was on the fritz too
I have since replaced the stock AWD transfer case with a 233 from an s10
I used journeys kit for the swap
Other than a few loose tolerances between some parts, I think it was worth the money
Next I'll be mounting 235/75 A/T tires
When you do this swap you swap out the old t case(borg warner or the 136) and install the 233. Which means that you then you loose AWD. The new t case only has 2wd 4hi and 4lo. and you have to shift them manually. There are no automatic functions to this swap. I don't even put it in neutral to do the shifts between 2wd and 4hi, just lift off of the accelerator, 1 Mississippi, then shift.
And depending on what year, make and model of jeep you have, the New Process 233 was used in jeeps as well so you might have more experience with it then you think
As far as top speed in 4 lo... I would have to put it around 15 ish mph. I have never tested it out that fast but it does run through the gears pretty fast.
