You know what happens when you assume though...You make an *** out of you AND me

I have all that and i also have the tranny. do i need to do any body modifications to fit an engine? can I use the motor mounts from JTR ? Is it easier to do the swap, engine/transmission/sub frame assembly as a unit or remove the engine/transmission through the front of the van? Do I need to change the radiator? Will The transmission, driveshaft and shift linkage remain in same position stock?

I bought a '99 LS1 and automatic trans from a Trans-Am and put it in my '98 2wd Astro. The photo page starts out with a white '98 Astro panel I bought with a bad engine and tranny. I put the good V6 and transmission from my green Astro into the white panel and sold it for enough to pay for the V8 stuff and now the white panel is a Fed-Ex truck. There is a short discription under the photos to tell what you are looking at or why it's there. You can also click on the upper left of the pictures where it says full size, or something like that for larger shots. If I were to do something like this again, I would start with the LQ4 or LQ9 truck engine I think. You need a truck oil pan and pickup anyway and the computer is on the left in a truck same as an Astro and you won't need the 240 splices and 5 fifty foot rolls of wire to get the LS1s computer from the right side over to where it will fit the 'Stro. Three problems still exist in this swap. I didn't hook up the electric air pump that blows into the exhaust manifolds at startup so I have the SES light on. Also, in '99 Gm changes the ohm rating of the fuel gauge so my fuel gauge is crazy. On the Astro, the wires from the ABS, Cruise control, and the odometer go to seperate ports on the computer but on the LS1 they all go to the same place so I hooked all the wires together. My cruise and odometer work fine but I have no ABS. There is juice going to it but it must not be the numbers it is looking for. Other than that it's worked fine for nearly 20,000 miles now and been from Wi. to Fla. twice and Wi. to Tx. to Cali once almost trouble free. On the Cali trip it started running crazy rich and we hit a Chevy dealer in Little Rock and he hooked up the scanner ( I have the trans-Ams VIN number right over the test port) and they had the answer in secs, replaced the MAP and "on the road again". You'll really like this swap if you do it. It gets better fuel milage than my other stock '98 BUT that one is AWD.
