RE: '87 astro with newly installed '95 Roadmaster LT1 w/ Soloman powertune.
Can anyone tell me what the correct procedure to remove the connector from the firewall without tearing it up?
I may need this for later references.
Specifically the connector in the engine bay; at passenger floor board where the dog house comes to.

The new harness is coming in that port and i still need to keep some things like; a/c, fuel pump, oil temp, ses, charging and gauge like items.

remove passenger side HVAC works and there you will find that the connector has tangs that one can press with his hand and connector comes out from inside to engine bay. one way operation.
behind HVAC works on the passenger side is also the '87's ECM. you will need to disconnect wiring from the ECM and fish the wiring thru the connector's original opening.

if installing a PCM (OBD1-2) in place of an ECM (TBI), check for clearance.

ECM is not actually under the HVAC ducting/works (facing forward), it is actually at the passenger side kick panel.
you may also want to remove in cabin courtesy lamp circuit from ECM harness for there also is the pass side door switch.
in my application i have '95 LT1 PCM for engine management and going to remove all circuits for the '87 ECM.
