hope someone can help i swapped a motor from a s-10 that i drove for 3 months into my 88 safari because the safari was burning coolant i used the intake from the safari motor no fix still smoked so i thought the intake was bad so i swapped it with the s-10 intake still smokes i have no idea where the coolant is getting into the motor i used permatex white thread sealer on the bolts is that ok please help i am at my wits end

So, do suspect a bad head or head gasket? Have you tried a leak down test yet?

Sounds like the motor ran fine before I would suspect the intake gasket didn't seat properly or over tightened. What did you torque it down to? Did you follow the recommended pattern for torquing it down. Usually from the inside bolts to the outside bolts. The white stuff can be used just on the bolts that would be in contact with coolant.

I just found this quick online as I don't have my Haynes manual with me. Here is what I found quick did you follow this procedure when installing the intake or similar?

Start from the center and go across back and forth.
First pass tighten to 26 inch lbs. (3 Nm)
Second pass tighten to 106 inch lbs. (12 Nm)
Final pass tighten to 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm)

Sequence to follow when tightening:
