88 burning coolant

hope someone can help i swapped a motor from a s-10 that i drove for 3 months into my 88 safari because the safari was burning coolant i used the intake from the safari motor no fix still smoked so i thought the intake was bad so i swapped it with the s-10 intake still smokes i have no idea where the coolant is getting into the motor i used permatex white thread sealer on the bolts is that ok please help i am at my wits end
