Freedom isn't free - LOL

Had to go back and try to figure out that poem... I think I can explain it now.

Not all that complicated...

FREEDOM is not FREE

Keen Basket,
carry it all
OK, it's not a basket & probably can't carry everything

Nice Pole,
we can see
Envious of your 'Pole n' Flag Vision' ( ...but not the money for the batteries )

Looks comfy,
Freedom says
Well, your place does & the Patriotism shows...

Van Protection,
SAYS it all
After all, it is about The Van... right?

I don't know if it's Haiku or iambic pentameter, but it just comes sometimes, I jot it down.
Have not written anything for a couple years ( depression rules ).

I do have about 15 or so of these weird little jewels.

"...some of em' better than others"

Live for music and lyrics and feel I am a wonderful judge of such.
Sure is nice to have someone to "talk to" around here.

Have any keen electric bike travel stories?

now I can appreciate the prose....you have to squint at it just so, and there it is. Thank you, Friend.

alas, the e-trike languishes. i'm staying busy enough to not, but only barely. i couldn't keep a schedule to tend the dogs (health stuff) but have turned into a much needed volunteer handyman. now i take care of the people who take care of the dogs. i build kennels, fix fences, gates, latches, doggy doors, pulleys & cables...at my own pace.

Got your "Conversation"...

Sorry, just never could figure out Zappa. I liked music and catchy tunes, he never "fit the bill' for me".
I always ( never ) did ( not ) like, "great googly moogly" and Nanook of the north.
Not enough music. Always seemed like we were outsiders just wondering what to hate.

as a buddy, i do wish you'd give yourself another chance. the music behind the shenanigans is mind-blowing. there's not really anything there to figure out, you just listen.

like your poem, you squint just right at it and there it is.

this is my only online place left, too. i've had enough internet, and it isn't even built for me anymore, anyway.

Damn Augie!
all along I thought I was subscribed to this thread but apparently not.
I seem to recall you working on sealing the leaks and much discussion about it.
I read your last post and of course had to investigate.
Guess I squint a lot, saw your pics and understood that poem right off.
I don't care for poetry.
I blame that on Mrs. Hoyt and Joyce Kilmer and that fucking poem. Mrs. Hoyt was my 4th grade teacher who expected all students to memorize one poem weekly.
I've been making sawdust ever since.
Never understood Zappa either, but dogs are another story.
How is your room mate Duke? It's good you found a way to help the pups on your own time, a win -win I would say.

And like politics, hard to change minds...
Personally, I have, at one time or another, listened to ALL of Zappa's stuff. But... just once - Sorry.
He fit the culture me & the spousal unit dug back then.

Future Games, Meddle, Barnstorm, Woodstock, Hendrix, Firesign Theater

And we moved on from there, paying quite a bit of attention to the groups that did not seem to care how much money they were making or even cared about the seemingly "Commercialization of the Music Industry".
Yeah, got sick of the Eagles, Walsh notwithstanding, too.
A tad hypocritical, me thinks.
Keep in mind, "if there was something to keep me into Zappa, I would have been all in".

Then U2 started pulling it's shit.
Ain't had a hit single since.

But, I digress.
Here is a poem / ode / soliloquy to the International Harvester Travelall that got launched 90 feet thru the air - hit by a Drunk Belvedere doing 80.

yes, my father owned one when I's a kid
It was a monster, but not a drunken match
The Air inside, trip it took not like it's past
a Man's dad's treasure was airborne, at last

omg... maybe... was that an "IH" ( inadvertent haiku ) ?

Great Googly Moogly.

that's not what i meant. i meant people always say "i don't get" or "i don't understand" him. it's weird the same old disclaimer. that's what i meant.

i myself never tried to "understand" an artist, also i was never all-in with zappa. i discovered "apostrophe" AND 25 on the same night, so that was great fun.

"...and i can't see...temporarily."

but what i WAS able to understand, because i'd heard and was accidentally part of the backstory, was "joe's garage"...music prison (his contract with warner brothers) is really creepy, and the guitar is some of the best anywhere.

i don't care whether you do or you don't or did and then didn't. it isn't relevant to my recommending music i like to friends.

'I'm the Slime' is probably more relevant today than it was 50 years ago.

I am gross and perverted
I'm obsessed 'n deranged
I have existed for years
But very little had changed
I am the tool of the Government
And industry too
For I am destined to rule
And regulate you
I may be vile and pernicious
But you can't look away
I make you think I'm delicious
With the stuff that I say
I am the best you can get
Have you guessed me yet?
I am the slime oozin' out
From your TV set
You will obey me while I lead you
And eat the garbage that I feed you
Until the day that we don't need you
Don't go for help...no one will heed you
Your mind is totally controlled
It has been stuffed into my mold
And you will do as you are told
Until the rights to you are sold
That's right, folks.. Don't touch that dial
Well, I am the slime from your video
Oozin' along on your livingroom floor
I am the slime from your video
Can't stop the slime, people, lookit me go

My bad, augi. Wishing I had said something other than, "...never could figure out Zappa".
I shoulda' just said, "...not into him".

Do you have any other entries...- "musically & orally an avant-garde, explosive improvisation pioneer w/ nonconforming, sound experiments, musical virtuosity amidst American culture and free form satire."
LOL - feel free to ignore me.

ps: I actually was caught a little off guard - I thought he was still alive. Heck, he's been gone near 30 yrs... geez...

all of that, of course, but he didn't try to define himself at all, he "wrote music to hear what it sounded like."

prostate cancer, discovered too late to stop. i've survived mine going on 12 years now.
so, maybe for that bond alone, i keep this one set in my collection, and i queue it up once in a while.

I posted here because my off-topic post may not get attention quick enough for my needs.

I have a security cam recording, 7 minutes .mp4

i can hear that the people are talking, but there's a TON of "cheap-camera" distortion, so i cannot make out the conversation.

this is NOT for any legal proceeding but only an informal dispute process.

anybody here dabble in audio/video forensics? i can pay reasonable fees.
