i'll get around to that eventually, but right now i'm juggling a lot of tasks, and most are more important than this one, which is only a shot in the dark.

it's real life real time stuff, kind of stressful, and i'm not having much fun right now.

the mobile home park i live in is small and quaint, and my location within the park is super premium. BUT, the park managers are heavy-handed bullies. they've got all the old folks in their old homes scared to death of getting on their (personal, social, political, or legal) bad side. all internal disputes are "resolved" with a lot of loud vulgar cussing and "if you don't like it, you can leave." of course, they know that old folks invested in their last old homes cannot possibly just up and leave for a reset.

i recently discovered the park hasn't been anywhere near compliant with oregon statutes regarding their paperwork, going back years, and i exploited the vulnerability to negotiate better treatment for myself and others.

for a while, it was backfiring, and i was being periodically informed that i was in violation of this or that, and subject to eviction proceedings. on top of that, managers and their favorites are of the low-life variety, so i am constantly on guard against home or van sabotage, and i patrol my yard for poison meatballs before letting the dog out. the conversation i was trying to extract from the video was evidence of threats. luckily, i didn't need it...

yesterday, i prevailed at a state-mandated proceeding (the park owner, myself, and a mediator) and was able to lock down my protections under the law. it was mostly about me, but some of what i accomplished will also benefit the other mobile home tenants...IF they take the new info and stand up for themselves.

so, i've staved off further "retaliatory" legal actions, but i still have to deal with a crazy manager (and his small crew of old crackers and felons) who is NOT going to like the results of the mediation.

i have cameras and dusk to dawn lights EVERYWHERE, so i am difficult to sneak up on, but i absolutely resent having to live with such a high level of vigilance...this is supposed to be my golden years. my physical health is already a burden, and i don't much appreciate the unnecessary psychological add-ons.

on the plus side, i found myself a fun and affordable hobby.

Too true. I think those tools need to be played with.
Years ago I had an ar-7 I think it was called, 22 long semi auto, 25 round clips. Cool part was it all broke down and stored in the waterproof stock. I played with that toy til a part wore down inside and it became an auto, let slide the bolt and 25 rounds were gone.
I gave it to the cops during a guns for toys promotion and got a $50 gift card for my kids.

Well, OK, since I brought it up, I'll talk about it.

These two Kel-Tec's use the same 30-rd magazine.
Common grip, trigger, safety, and bolt-release setup.
.22 WMR is an impressive round, and affordable.
They recoil like rimfire, as in not really.
They're super light, super fast, and super accurate.

And I use a local private club that has all the bells and whistles.

Also, a good time to report that The Dawg is everything I was hoping for. Oil changes and that's it. Excellent driving on Oregon's roads.

about that excellent driving...I did a Shelter Transport Animal Rescue Team | START Rescue | Saving homeless dogs and cats run last week...a 4 hr round trip in the middle of the night. I drove from the coast and met the van on interstate 5, and brought 3 dogs back, for local adoption.
Dog Dog breed Carnivore Companion dog Snout

This is Skeeter. He was pulled out of an overcrowded shelter, with a high kill rate, in Californication. He'll rock the house here, only the best applicants are being considered.

...this is NOT for any legal proceeding but only an informal dispute process.
I knew there was a more dire reason - bummer your idyllic situation has turned sour.

Here's to hoping you continue to use the guns "For Fun".
We have 22s also - a Ruger Wrangler 6 shooter LR.
The neighborhood squirrels ( all 652 of 'em ) know the cocking sound.
Also a Remington 572 Fieldmaster Pump Rifle - preciously smooooth - near as old as me.
Of course we still have our S&W 2.0 9mm and the M&P-16 nato avail for anything, any time...

Some of the coolest, nicest, smart people we have ever met have been at the range & club mtgs.

Nice to see you helping others - though they may not 'say'... we see it in their eyes.
Bless you, augi

as the grateful adoptee of a (very cool) rescued dog, i also like what i'm doing for other people. the dog handlers at our shelter are excellent matchmakers, can be picky, will keep & love the animal as long as it takes, and without fail the perfect human eventually comes along and it's love forever  (y)

i woulda used a right-hand thumbs up, too, if i coulda

Honestly... I can not believe the site does not offer ambidextrous 'Thumbs Up' smiley doodads.

Must be a canuck thing...

I NEVER use 'em ( not since we lost "Dancing Bananas" ) & you may or may not have noticed - I never 'Like' anything, cuz... well, "I don't like anything".

That little emoji thing, it had a calendar date that read July 17 that I could not change. I posted that from my phone at lunchtime and now at home on my pc I do not see it at all. I'm with Mike on this, since the bananas are gone the emojis suck... Lol.

the emoji formerly known as dancing banana is definitely missed, PLUS it's demise screwed up some good posts. i once earned a "banana of the week," from sixsix ,in the early stages of this very thread.

referring (again) to previous posts here, recall this issue with my high-top?
my liftgate & dutch door seals are right and tight, but i'm getting seepage down the inside of the rear pillars. it has to be rot in the gutters, and i'm like "back to figuring out what to do about that" because my hi-top blocks me from accessing them, yet leaves them exposed to water.

and then this van comes up for sale. dig the outer "bead" type seal...eureka! i'll need dry hot weather before i can do it, but with the right universal seal & adhesive, i can make my seam look exactly like this one.

i'm pretty happy to have something to look forward to when the time is right.

Going to use something like "Flex tape"?
i've considered before using flex tape around the perimeter, from body to topper. if carefully done, wouldn't look too much like a quick fix. i'd learn to live with it.

after seeing the rubber bead around that other high-top, i realized i can just smoosh some universal rubber into the gap around the outer edge, leaving the space of the overhang empty behind it. i can't treat whatever rot there is at the gutters, but if i blow out the overhang space real good and get it nice and dry, it shouldn't be a worry once the weather is sealed out.

done right, it won't even look like a "fix" but original.

steel rubber has several good universal options. i'm gonna send them some pics and ask for samples.

i appreciate the input, and i've considered pretty much all possible solutions, but realize my topper has a serious flaw designed into it. i guess they thought that retaining the pressed metal "gutter" was a good thing, but all they did was create a bottleneck that's easily clogged and difficult to keep clear. in order to get a grasp on the problem, one would need to travel back in this thread and find close ups of the topper overhang.

if it had been fastened and sealed along the outer perimeter, in the conventional manner, the gutter area would have never been exposed. but i can't simply pump the 1/2" high by 3" deep "dead area" full of rust treatment and know it got to the trouble area. plus, the leftover mess. as it is, the trouble area is constantly clogged by debris that holds moisture. it can only be blown out from front to back with an air gun.

no sir, the only fix will be to dry the channel as much as possible, and seal it off before the damage gets any worse. i wish i'd seen such a good example as the van in WA much sooner, because this would have already been done. with no heated work space, i'll have to wait for dry hot weather.

I apologize for being dismissive, and will illustrate the problem. this view is from the driver door. when I got the van, these "tunnels" were totally plugged at the back with about 6" of wet muddy pine needles, and both sides have the only thru-rust on the entire van. you see I can't really treat it, but I can seal it off.
