Which is easier? Drop the frame, or cut & brace the radiator support? Hopefully I won't be doing this mod any time soon, but it's definitely the type of thing I'd do!

Well I would say that is a tuff question to answer.I guess it depends on what you want to end up with. For sure to cut the rad support is easier. The but comes in when you consider by dropping the sub frame, you could do a lift with blocks at the same time.If you do this the end product will allow changing spark plugs on the V8 much easier.

ok cutting the rad support is a whole lot easier you dont have to mess with the brakes and steering but when you do this remember to put the boom from the cherry picker under the harness and put the front of the van on ramps for the proper angle.

ZOMBIE THREAD ALERT!!!
9 years later, 2:00 AM, and here I am researching V8 swaps looking for answers to the questions I have and for questions I don't yet know I'll have. So far it looks like I'm cutting the support, the neighbors and the city would have a cow if I raised the van high enough to pull the subframe- not to mention not having front wheels. The city frowns upon such things.

The brackets should fit as well as the accessories, you will want to get a fuel pump for a 92 chevy truck with 5.7 TBI, The ecm and harness I am not sure on because your van has the 4L60E transmission which means its controlled by the ECM. You will want the Y pipe off the same truck as the engine too.I will see if I can get more info for you.

Just an FYI for anyone researching- My Y pipe in the 95 Astro dumped/still dumps on the passenger side. The donor G20 dumped on the driver side. I wound up finding my Y pipe under a Silverado. I don't recall for sure, but I believe it was either an 88 or a 92, leaning toward 88.
