as the title says im throwing code p1870 ...
printout the guy at autozone give me says ... Transmission componet slipping.
Explanation: Transmission is in 4th gear with TCC engaged and the ECM has detected excessive slippage when comparing the input shaft speed to the output shaft speed.
Probable cause:
bb1-trailer towing may set code (no trailer hitch)
bb2-check transmission fluid level (looks good to me but im gonna change it this weekend to be sure)
bb3-internal transmission fault (i hope not but if it is it prolly the torque converter slipping at highway speeds)
anyway about it from the looks of it ill be ok for a little while at city driving speeds until i can take it to a transmission specialest and get it checked out ... does anyone have experience changing the tranny on one of these vans in case i have to? it is a 2 wheel drive. I have mechanical knowledge and know how on doing the work since i have been doing motor swaps in hondas so im not afraid to get my hands dirty and considering its rear wheel drive it should be easier than changing the transmission on a front wheel drive honda.
