Hi everyone,
I have a 98 Astro with a CD player and 'AUX' button but no aux input. I've seen the mod for adding an aux jack but I'm not really comfortable with drilling or soldering. Is there an alternative method for getting an aux input connected to the head?

Also open to buying a head with aux from eBay, but I checked and didn't find anything. If there's a better search term I can use or a place to get such parts, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

Yep, that AUX button means nothing. Metra makes a nice double DIN kit, so you could install virtually any double DIN navigation/dvd/reverse-camera/8-track head unit that you want. https://www.astrosafari.com/viewtopic.p ... 4#p1528110 There are also kits that interface with the auxiliary CD player, not the one built into the head unit, but just above the cupholders.

I'd prefer to use one that fits aesthetically with the van ('98) tbh. I saw that 1FactoryRadio sells some OEM head units with the aux upgrade, but they're out of stock. Any other sites that sell this type of stuff?

As I mentioned, using one of the factory radios that had an auxiliary player "slave unit" is an option. Has to have the connector like in the middle of the picture: https://amzn.to/3ve7vqm

That would keep the factory look for you.

MMusicman has stated that he has good luck with this brand FM transmitter https://amzn.to/3ywlxpG they offer a bunch of different styles. I travel long trips across the country and find FM transmitters have never lived up to my expectations. May be worth a shot, they are not expensive.
