you know, when i removed just those items, i found it to be worse than stock also (no numbers). that is why i made this mod. it's much better with the mod. opening up the front of the box changes how the air flows. path of least resistance.

5. This is what you're left with. As you can see, you have a little bit more access to some other stuff...
I know this thread is old, but what is that hose, the one that is attached the the "intake hat" or the last bit of the plastic intake still shown, its directly in the middle of the picture and continues off to the left and back towards the engine.

what hose is it and where does it go. In my quest to replace all cracked hoses and such, this one remains a mystery. any help?

Old post and all, but in four years no one has responded to this guy's question? I want to know too! I've got a 2003 too and can't figure out what it's called and the parts counters around here aren't very helpful and my google-fu is weak apparently.

Edit: Took the dealership parts counter guy half an hour to drill down through his diagrams to figure out it's called "PCV hose 2." I couldn't get a part number out of him or confirmation that it includes the plastic elbow and tube that press down into the valve cover. I used some 5/8" fuel hose I had laying around and a couple of clamps for good measure.

Air Intake box top cover was not returned with the vehicle be mechanic after not repairing it. Its a 1995 Astro. I got a cover from another van but I need to see pictures of a 1995 AstroSafari air box cover. Back side and under side of the cover. I need the actual cover but may try to mod this one I picked up at junk yard if its possible. Thx in advance. Unkajoe
