What's the reason for the change Stent?
I got a set of nice JY doors from a passenger van so i can use the factory door panels to match the passenger headliner & wall panels that i'm putting in.

my cargo van doors don't have any of the punched holes for the passenger interior panel retaining clips - i figured that to get perfect fitting rear door panels swapping to passenger van doors will be the best solution.

also, the passenger doors have a better setup for mounting 6.5" speakers,
plus they have tinted, tip-out windows - the cargo doors have the plain fixed glass.
i've got the new doors repainted white & in storage till the weather gets nice as i don't have a garage.
with new hinge pins, nice speakers & the weatherstrip kit, i should be good to go till the Alzheimer's police come for my driver's license.

The tilt windows were the first thing that came to mind, but yes, looks like the best choice to just swap them out. Never thought about the speaker mounting.

Good news, but disappointing to me. I just bought the same drip rail for the Dutch doors. Not only is mine 52" but the cutouts for the hinges aren't a great fit. If this plain 53" version had been available last week, I would have bought IT and made my own cutouts. This is something dutch-door owners should keep in mind.
That is a great tip!
disregard what I said, see my install thread, you do NOT want a longer drip rail with the liftgate, and the hinge cutouts were spot on. https://www.astrosafari.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=141656

Man, the dutch door kit is pricey but I'm still pretty sold on it since there are a ton of specialized pieces.

I have a question for anyone who has purchased the front door stripping though. Is it just a roll of weather stripping? If this is specialized pieces like the dutch door kit, I can understand paying a premium. But a quick search around the internet makes it seem like I could get weather stripping with that same cross-section for a third of the price.

Thoughts from someone who has actually purchased it for the front and/or slider doors? Thanks

I just ordered the upper dutch door seal, aside from their $57 install kit, any recommendations on prep & install? My upper seal is completely gone but the two side pieces are still there intact.
Also, any closeup pics of the drains?
I don't see anything that looks clogged but not entirely sure what I'm looking for.

I didn't order any. All they show are the ones you showed, which are all dutch door sets. They don't have any for the full cargo doors. They say "Cargo" but what the photos show is clearly for the half-door. Kind of a shame.,
I'm not sure what you are talking about.

If you look at the actual measurements there is about a 4 foot difference in the length of the seal.
Part Number:70-4162-72 is the barn door seal kit
Part Number:70-4087-85 is the Dutch door seal kit

Does anyone know if the 85-96 sliding door seal works on the 97-05 models? When I talked to GM they said all the door seal part numbers were superceeded up to 15101551,(all the way from '85) which is what the steele rubber products replaces, but it's 100USd and so for me in canada that means about $250 after shipping and duties. I found other products that are made for the 85-95 vans for a lot less, that look very similar.

I work on aircraft and if a part is superceeded that means that its interchangeable probably 99% of the time. also the steel rubber products works with 85 to 05 models, if thats the case you would have to assume the 85-95 part actually does fit up to 05 model years as well.

I'm pretty surprised I couldn't find more info about this on the internet, I'm usually able to source parts by cross referencing part numbers, but I've not found anything concrete, and some of the seals listed for the older vans have pegs or holes in the stripping. I'd rather not get a junkyard replacement as it will probably be degraded as mine is anyways.

this is a link showing the supercession, confirmed by my local GM parts depot as well.

btw I have a 2000 astro rwd cargo van.

I know this is an older thread, but any advice would be helpful as I've got knee surgery coming up and have one week to get this installed - it rains regularly here in Florida.

I've got the Steele Rear Liftgate Window Seal Set, PN 70-4083-85the kit for the top of the passenger dutch doors. Excellent quality. Fitment is an issue as the main extrusion doesn't have holes for the existing 7 rivets. Has anyone else installed this kit? Did you cutoff or drill out the rivets?

remove the rivets and clean the entire metal "lip" really well. after cleaning, do any bending to be sure it is as straight as possible. IMO, Steele's replacement is BETTER than original, because it has a groove molded into it that slips completely onto the 90 degree lip.

it doesn't take much adhesive to hold it in place on the lip, but it's very important you use enough to make a good seal under the top leading edge and around the hinge cutouts.
