Forgive a Boomer, but what is that?
Does it include a backup camera?
Does it receive regular radio?
Does it require a cell phone contract/account?
Does it function as a GPS like a Garmin?
Is there a link to a site that sells it/explains it?

Never apologize, it's just a touch screen stereo.
It has a connection for a backup camera if you choose to install one. I did not
Yes, it still gets good ol am/fm.
No, it does not require a cellphone contract. However, most of the features require using a smart phone.
Some do, mine displays google maps as it would appear on a cell phone screen and only works when my phone is connected.

Unless you want google maps/navigation on a big screen and to play music off your phone it is not really worth the investment.

Was just reading the older post about DD's. I went back and forth whether to go with flip/float single or double din. I thought a DD install would look too much like a hack job. Finally bit the bullet and did it. Was surprised given the fixed positioning of the OEM and small tolerances that it would work out to my liking. Probably the best mod of the bunch I've done. Backup camera, Carplay and my music on a memory stick.

Looks clean!

I read that post several times. I was pretty wound up even removing the dash bezel let alone cutting it. So I went with the easy way out and used the floating display haha. I like the USB placement. I ran mine into the glove compartment so that way I'm not even tempted to look at my phone.

I put my mic in the ashtray I thought it was a good way to conceal it when I am not talking.

I hear ya..Cutting the dash was a little hairy. I made sure there were a replacement available around me in case I screwed it up. I may steal your mic location, mines currently hanging around the steering column. lol. However you get there I think a screen upgrade is well worth it. IIRC my Bose was around $200 which for the features seemed like a deal

Thank you. Just brought a 99 Astro home looking at options/upgrades. Mainly looking for a Backup Camera (and a place to mount it!).
First need to rebuild the front end and replace shocks and other 23 year old 'wear' and 'deteriorate' parts!

How about sharing which double-din kit this is? Is it just a chassis kit that includes the bezel and chassis that accepts any double-din radio? That would seem to be the best.
