My 88 g-10 van has a 4.3 tbi, the engine smokes somethin fierce, and to put it nicely its one of those vehicles where you have to fill the oil and check the gas!,. I also have the 4.3 vortec from my astro I was thinkin about swapping out, so my question is this: Aside from the heads and the fuel delivery system what if any are the differences between the blocks and how universal are components. I would like to take the vortec, and swap the intake manifold on it so that it would be running tbi instead of sfi and bypass all the electronic bs so I wouldn't have to deal with ecm swaps amongst alot of other crap. so how phesible is a swap like this, and would there be anything elts I would have to swap aside from the intake manifold. IE~rotor/cap coil ect. I know it sounds like alot for one sad former astro owner to be asking but I hope someone can help. Thanks again for your time! ~Chris

Hi herbal_gradens

Here is a run down on the changes through the years with the 4.3 engines. Doug Anderson did an outstanding job with this write-up. Hopefully something their will help you with your current project.:)
