I want to swap out my factory acdelco AM/FM cassette from my '89 Safari with another acdelco cassette and/or CD model, preferably one w/a 5 band eq. Ebay has one exactly like mine w/ model # 16161615. I am not concerned with the wiring as I am handy with a soldering iron assuming the wiring harness is obtainable. What I am concerned about are which ones will and will not fit in the stock space 8"x3"to 4" i believe. and, Will the mounting brackets cause a problem or could I just rig/fabricate something to anchor it down??

Most of the radios from similar years GMs are the same size. The major difference is the brackets that hold it in place. So the brackets off your old radio should go right on the replacement.

Yeah, I have to agree with cudapaul on that one. Pioneer has good stuff and the stock stereos in these vans is lacking in several departments.

Great..
That's what I wanted to hear. A little switcheroo and I'm in business.

That's a NICE Pioneer Cuda, it's a shame it cost almost half of what I paid for my ride.
I'm trying to go Cheap-Dirt Cheap. If I had the $$ to spare I'd probably would get it. MOSFET 45watts x 4 and a built in crossover for each out. Hmmmm. and LPF has a 18db cut. That's hard to find on professional sound equipment. Sucks it only has a non sweepable 3 band para eq. I need a graphic eq.

I was checkin out the 85-05 Haynes manual at the radio schematic and it only shows 14 leads from the radio. Most of the ones I been lookin at have a 21 pin connector. What gives there???
