Hey everyone im new to this page. Just hoping to get some advice on deleting the torsion bars that broke and mounting coilovers. Its a 1993 AWD Astro that im in the middle of TT LS swapping. Hoping to be around 600hp to 800hp at first. The torsion bars broke with the v6 and do not want to risk that again. Plus i want to lower it and give it a good stance for handling. Will the coil over system mess with the AWD at all? How much fabricating is involved?. I know i would have to make shock towers and maybe notch the control arms... any advice would be great!! Thank you!

Welcome aboard.
Coil over on an AWD is going to be tricky. Because of the design of the foot well/wheel well area and the LS swap you will be working in very tight confines. Battery relocation and heater deletion will help free up some working room but you will likely be looking at custom design control arms. You've got a lot of trial and error test fitting in your future.

Thank you for the reply! I have already deleted the heater. Do you know of any companies that sell kits to convert to coilovers or that sell custom controll arms for this application? cant seem to find much.

Welcome to the board. Those are some pretty lofty goals. Would love to see the end result.

This is the only coilover conversion that I know of if you don't mind a bit of fabbing.

You also may wish to ask yourself "to what end" for one thing unless you plan on putting your turbo's under the van you most likely do not have room for even one turbo in the engine compartment. However if you do find a way to do twin turbo's in one of these vans we will all want to see how you did it. As for the LS engine in an AWD one of our members has done this. His screen name is copperfiremist. He may be of some help with your project and he is a strait up guy and very friendly. Then there is chevymaher he is a great mechanic and may have some insight too. Never got into coilovers myself so I wouldn't know where to start but I can tell you that the Astro AWD front suspension is based heavily on the 88-99 Chevy K1500 IFS.

Thanks for the link! I will post pictures soon. Im thinking about putting the turbos up front underneath where the bumper would go. There's two nifty empty spaces right in the perfect spot. Or i could just stick em out the hood a little bit. This will be a full on drag sleeper. I have my charger to play with daily, this will be for when me and my friends get serious and put up some numbers. So anything is possible at this point.
