:banghead: I had to swap out my radiator today. The radiator I bought came out of a 98 in the salvage yard.I can't return it so I have to make it work. All of the fittngs and hook ups were the same except the trans cooler lines. The ones on my 99 are larger in diameter than the ports on the 98 radiator. Can I just run a large trans cooler and bypass the radiator trans cooler? Also do I just cut the fittings off the trans line and slide the new rubber lines over them and use hose clamps?Sorry for the dumb questions but I really need to get it going. Thanks

you can just run an aftermarket cooler, i feel it is best to run them in series. go through the radiator cooler then the aftermarket cooler. i just put one on my big van and just cut the fittings off and clamped the rubber lines on, no leaks so far.

I bought the biggest one they had. Rated for class A motorhomes and towing up to 10000lbs.It should be enough hopefully. The radiator from the 98 is twice as thick as the one I took out of my 99.I drove it for 30 minutes and no leaks so far.The new cooler is a stacked plate design.Just worried about blowing the lines off.

If you put the hose far enough up on the metal lines you can use 2 clamps on each line. One behind the other with a small gap between them to get a little better clamp area. If you have access to a flaring tool you could also put a small flare on the line to give a lip to clamp behind.

It's not really expensive to have the plastic tanks on the side replaced.I had one split and found a repair place that did it for like $50.00. It's been fine for 4 years now.
