Can anyone shed some light on 2nd gen front door panels?

I've noticed some, like mine, are one piece from the bottom of the door to the top off the back of the mirror cover.
While others have a separate back of the mirror cover.
Is this a year change or a trim level difference?
Are the two interchangeable?

A good question!
I have not even noticed this before, and frankly, don't even know what mine is!
I think trim and generation both probably has something to do with it though.
Cargo vs. passenger, then from there the conversion styles vs. regular. Beyond that I wouldn't think so.
There are 2 styles of door trim. The passenger van style has the removable piece for the mirror, armrests molded into the door panel (usually cracked), and typically have a carpeted lower half. The cargo van style has the mirror piece molded into the door panel, removable armrests that hold up better and can be reupholstered, and no carpet on the lower half. You'll often find a variant of the cargo version on conversion vans as well.
I imagine Button, Features & Speaker stuff may change from cargo up also.

They do, but the panels are interchangeable. You can reuse your existing controls and the plastic around them with the opposite door panel. You just need to make sure you grab a couple of pieces of hardware that holds the armrest to the door if you are changing to cargo panels.
And on a side note - spence - has to be the most comprehensive Signature / Van Data on the Forum.
Only thing missing is some anecdotal ARP bolt data and toss in some incidental torque numbers.

LOL - we'll give you 10 days...

I have them, but there was a character limit for the signature.

I took mine out for a spin today and noticed that even though mine is a passenger model, I have what you describe here as the cargo model, but the carpeted lower half with the wells as well. Mine is not a conversion, and also a gen one.

Yep, I was referring to Gen 2 and 3. Sorry, I should have clarified.
