Hi everybody,
I'm looking for a center link for my astro 1994, this is a part of the steering, this piece is connected whith the two idler arms, the two tie rods and the connecting rod (which is connected whith the pitman arm);
I'm in Canada, in Montreal, do you know where I can find it? Some says I must buy it in a GM shop, but it's expensive.. If you know another shop or internet shop, it would be great..
thanks!
Laurent

Your English is good enough that I wouldn't have questioned it.

www.RockAuto.com
2WD $72
AWD $104

Same part no matter which year.

Thanks for your answer;
I have take a look at your link, and I think it's the same problem I meet everytime.. I try to explain it: what they call "center link" seems to be, in fact, a "drag link": as you can see on their pictures, there is no connection for the tie rods and the drag link (what i'd call "connecting rod" on my first message), the pictures are the same for a drag link and a center link... I don't know if there is a mistake on the website, or if they just don't sell the center link...
Tell me if I'm not clear, in french it's not easy, so in english it might be complicated.. : )

Laurent

(edit: it's a two wheel drive, and after calling GM they said me the piece number is "26039568", but i don't find it on RockAuto..)

center link, is that a 'wearable' part?

i dont see any of the joints on the link its self, rather all the other parts (drag, idle, etc) all have the joints on them that run thru the shaft- right?
ive ordered every part for the front end on mine, but that link. my caprice (91) center link was not a wearable part, and was designed similar to the astro, but never hurts to ask.

"I'm wondering why you need this item. What is the problem with yours?"

I don't know the problem with mine... I have to check my van because it cames from another country than Quebec, and I have to change some parts of it to register the van. If I don't change this, they will not let me drive it. There was some little things, but this one is a bullsh... one.. They just paint the part to change, and they paint in white the two extremity of the center link (not the idler arm, but the center link).. I don't know why. The right tie rods are dead, the steering box too, but the center link i don't understand..
So
if you have the "haynes repair manual", you can see a beautiful picture of the steering in the chapter 10 (10-2), and the piece i want and i can't find is ... (drum roll) : the motha f...er 2 ! yee ha! relay rod, center link, it doesn't matter how you call it, but i have to change it (i don't know why, and don't want to..)
i'm borring..
thanks for your answers, i'm still searching.. :)

i would start looking in junk yards. that way you can see the piece that you are looking for and get it at a better price. i would take the piece in question off and take it in hand to my local junk yard and match it up to be sure to get the right part. :2: :idea:

I don't know why getting a used centerlink would be any different than just reusing the one already on the van. It's not a wear item, it contains no moving parts. I have to agree with the OP that its complete crap that they would make you replace that part.
