Has anyone done the swap from 700R4 to a 5 speed lately? I checked and most of the parts are NLA per GM. Any help would be great with this swap.

What I have is an '89 Cargo with a 4.3. I have looked, but have not found the answers to my few questions using the search feature.

Here's what I got or know so far:

1) I have the flywheel and pilot bushing (brand new from Chevy) got it for almost nothing.
2) I have a nice used T-5 from a 1992 Z-28, can anyone direct me to find the offset shifter parts?
3) I think I will have the clutch pedal question sorted out this weekend, weather depending.
4) I have the MC w/Resv for the hydraulic clutch, hose and all support stuff except the Slave cylinder, I held off on this part.
5) From what I read, the bellhousings are different between the Astro and S-10 (4.3) why?
Shows a different p/n for the slave cylinders, but they look similar. Can I use an 4.3 liter S-10 Bellhousing & Slave Cylinder instead?
6) I will buy the 11" clutch setup once I figure out if the parts will all work together.

Thanks,

Danny

Danny,
I was interested in the same thing.I believe the bellhousing mounting for the tranny is canted towards the drivers side in addition to the offset shifter for proper shifter location. The foot space on these vans is tight and I did at one time have a set of peddles for a stick shift that accommodated for that.Tell ya what...........I'm going to leave you a link for junk yards that you can do a search on.I have seen some parts for stick shift 4.3 Astro's on there.I would suggest you call those yards to see what other parts they have other than just the trannies.Good luck on your swap.

Yes, I have used that site in the past, several of the yards in the Southeast had the vans, but pulled the trannys and stripped them. Thanks, I will continue the searching that site and let you know what I turn up.

Again, Thanks
