Hey guys im gonna be doing a coolant flush and replace my thermostat because its stuck open. I wanted to know if i should replace the thermostat before or after flushing the system or? or it doesnt matter?
Also do you guys use that super flush stuff? or just flush with distilled water?

Thanks!

Well if your thermostat is stuck open get your garden hose out , open the drain plug, start her up and flush. Don't do it hot as you could crack your block. run till fluid is mostly clear. try to capture as much of the old coolant as possible. thats some nasty stuff.

definitely change it after you flush. and yes the garden hose method is what i would do. if not you would use alot of bottled water. also i have used that flush stuff before and it worked pretty good.

Yes, that would be fine. Just have more distilled than you need as to be sure to flush out as much of the tap water as possible. That's not really crucial but if you are going to take the time to use distilled water, you might as well try to remove as much of the tap water as possible.

I agree with all the above, and would like to add that I always buy 100% antifreeze, instead of the 'Pre-Mixed' stuff. Gallon jugs of distilled water can usually be purchased @ most grocery stores for anywhere fm $0.69 to $1.10.

Then I take a empty/clean one gallon plastic milk jug, and pour one of the gallons of distilled water in it until both containers are approximately equal in volume; add your antifreeze to the top, and you've got your 'Pre-Mixed' 50/50 antifreeze ready to add to your radiator, at a much cheaper price than buying it @ the auto parts store.

Save yourself some time, and don't pour any of this 'pre-mix' back in the original container yet; add whatever your need to your radiator and overflow container, then pour what's left back in the original container. Be sure to take a 'SHARPIE' and mark '50/50' on the outside so you know what it is @ a glance.

Also...After my flush, I filled mine with the GREEN Prestone normal antifreeze. I just replaced all my intake gaskets etc. from the Dexcool damage. Runs really well.
