Hello again
Coolant is leaking somewhere...
when I first got the van the overflow reservoir was almost empty (below the hose cold) and grimy. I cleaned it out and filled it up, and ever since it's been slowly going down. I filled the overflow reservoir with orange dex-cool and de-ionized water 50/50, but I do not know what makes up the rest/old coolant. I have yet to experience any overheating.
- Trans fluid just changed - it was red/brown, replaced with bright red. No dipstick milkshake and pan seems OK.
- Engine oil not changed yet, it is overfilled but changed by some shop not long ago (window sticker). No dipstick milkshake.
- Thermostat and all lines to and from dry (I redact this, I was looking at the hot water bypass valve).
- Heater core lines are dry.
- Transmission cooler lines dry.
- Generally, the passenger side is dryer than the drivers side.
The bottom of the engine is dirty as :shhh:, and searching for cause I found some orange coolant droplets formed on the engine oil cooler bracket/lines. It looks like it might be coming from above the bracket, though - I am not sure and I can't get great pictures way up in there. Manual pic for context of what I'm taking a picture of.
My thoughts so far are
- Why would coolant be dripping from lines that carry oil? Surely then it must be coming from above?
- I should buy a pressure tester, test the cap/rad.
- What's going on with my rad cap? (Coolant was to the top when I took a picture of the cap, it was lower when I figured I should take a picture of the coolant).
Interestingly, my post seems almost exactly what this guy is experiencing. From the doghouse, engine is dry, main seal is leaking, coolant is coming from somewhere near the water pump (although I must admit, I haven't even located the water pump :? ). I don't mean to make duplicate posts :whack: there are a lot of coolant leak topics, few with pictures to relate with.
