So I am doing a tuneup. Got plugs, wires, dist cap and rotor. I just watched this vid on the rotor shaft replacement (or whatever its called).
I have done this job before but cant remember why I did it.
Do I worry about it now?
Thanks.

I think I did it on a previous astro. Will have to look at my maintenance word doc. Is it even worth doing preemptively if the van runs great?

If you have the aluminum housing for the distributor. It has already been done. Check the play in the distributor shaft. A worn gear will show with up/down movement. I did my distributor and upgraded injector at the same time as the intake gasket and cooling system rebuild. I see no reason not to get ahead of problems you know will happen.

JM6671-BK is the part number for the good distributor available from assault racing.
