I have an 88 Astro coversion van. The universal joint on the transmission side is worn and needed to be replaced. I bought the UVs and once I pulled the shaft I find no keepers like on the diff side and for that matter all the other UVs I have pulled. There are just these little pieces of plastic where I thought there were roller pins at first. I can't figure it out. ANY one help me please....

Those are OEM. You'll have to apply heat until the plastic runs out....

........and then whack em out with a hammer and socket! be sure to use a pick to get all the plastic residue out of the grooves before you re-install the new one :D
