ok gt,matrixx, and 355. heres another one for you guys. just goin thru the motions before i order my parts for my carbed 4.3 will deleting the egr system have much effect on my 90 non vortec 4.3? im doin away with the computer and goin for a basic carb setup with an edelbrock 500cfm non egr performer carb and intake. is there a way to bypass or reconnect it in another configuration. the reason im goin to carb, is to clean up the extra wiring, computer,no heat or ac, for a more showable look for my show van. yet id like it to run well but it doesnt have to smoke the tires. maybe ill win the lotto and have my pro street van 1 day next to my bagged lowrider minitruck.life would be perfect!! anyway im trying to remedy or for see the obstacles ahead of the top end switch. i already know that i gotta mess with the overdrive/clutch on the 700r so im building the library of knowledge slowly but surely. give me your inputs u guys reaaly kick butt helpin fveryone on this site, thanks as always!! mark c

Hi marcus38

For the 1990 model, It's not as embedded as the newer versions and I know of people that just disconnected them and it ran fine (even better in some cases). If you don't have to go through emissions testing, then I'm sure for that year it would be fine. You can leave the egr in place and egr pintle will plug the exhaust whole that the manifold has when disconnected, or you can find a way to plug it off without the egr installed.

marcus38: This is one place you don't have to worry about spelling mistakes, we all make them. You also have an edit button you can use for the first 24 hours of your postings to change things around.:)

I see the the point now Gary, Thanks.:)

If you have the EGR gasket lyin' around, use it as a template to make a block off plate out of 3/16 or 1/4 plate steel. It only takes about 15 minutes to whip one up.

Ooops, I just re-read your post....installing a non-egr intake...yeah, go ahead. No problems, other than stated emmisions issues.
