Either someone stole relay or going nuts....

Can you believe this crap! Been working on my 95 Astro AWD that has been plagued with all kinds of wiring issues from some mad butcher. To make a long story short a relay has disappeared from the engine compartment driver side firewall above and left back side of fuse box. I'm positive there was one there 2 weeks again when last working on this bugger. Has 5-6 wires with plug/socket just hanging! Definitely not the fuel pump or oil pump relay that are located on the right side above heater box. Can someone with the same model & year post the relay part number and what it's purpose is? I was suspect on why this friggin thing wouldn't start today, just fire up and die, time after time. I'm hoping this MIA relay is the reason for no start and when the suspect culprit's van from the rural area I live in comes back home I'm sure his *** will be switching the relay. Can you believe :screaming: how stupid crack heads are! One other van in the friggin area besides his and he choses mine. Sorry for venting guys n gals but reality really bites today, especially when I picked him up hitchhiking this morning. LOL.....

The vans not shifting and anti lock brakes not working due to a bad connection within the tank that was over looked when pump was replaced.
So the van is not shifting at all? Or just under certain conditions?

Is one or both of the brake idiot lights lit?
Thanks for the interests and tips on testing the sending unit.

Astro355, the van shifts from first to drive when i take the revs up quite high. its kinda of hard to tell due to my test drive road being the Trans Can Hwy. Way to much traffic to play in, LOL! No brake lights come on when shit happens with my fuel gauge. Going to drop the fluids in tranny and swap out filter hoping this will clean up the shifting.

But the suspicion of the pump sending unit is getting me going that way because how the gauge bounces erratically while driving, I stop and listen to see if the pump is running continuously and yes it is. This being said the puter goes to limp/safe mode and keeps me running off the oil pump. I'm just not convinced enough to keep spending money i don't have on this nightmare, so trying a used complete pump assembly is my best alternative at this time. Thanks again for the support guys!
Not sure on other issues but on a Chevy the fuel pump is SUPPOSED to run continuously, with exess fuel being returned to the tank via the return line. Fords use a system where the pump cycles. The only time the pump should shut off with the ignition on is if you turn the key to 'run' without starting it. Then the pump should run 1 or two seconds to prime the system, then shut off. But when the engine is running the pump runs full time.

Are you saying the trans starts off in 1st (low) and increases in RPM like normal, but misses 2nd and shifts to 3rd?

Hey Guys my apology for not keeping up with this post. This friggin van has been driving me nuts and need to leave alone for lengthy periods to keep the blood pressure down. LOL!

Yes Astroplane the van the van starts in First then as I accelerate it will rev quite high, (No Tach) and "sometimes" shift to another gear I'm Assuming is Drive(3rd) due to lag. My problem is I even flutter the gas pedal to get it ti shift. As mentioned earlier all fluids been drained and new filter since last post and it was grossly contaminated with GRAVEL. My guess is the trans is pooched! Someone left me a Ghost alright. I'm going to throw some plates on a drive down the highway for awhile and reset the puter. Not getting codes to mention, just in denial of NFG trans. LOL!

I'm really confused on how this misunderstanding I have been reading on all my data and electrical diagrams, How I was expecting that Fuel pump "shuts down" after the key goes to run for 2-3 secs. Thanks for the heads up and getting me off an issue other than my own. Sure wish I was on top of that, been soooooooooo many hours lost trying to fix something that wasn't broken.

Thanks 94Van Guy for the feedback. Yes these words are only used as experiences and usually we all eventually learn. LOL!
