no they tell you what the maximum size of the speaker that you can fit.. this is not the stock size. Tomorrow i will go out and measure them and let you know since i just ripped out almost all the interior of the van.

I dont know about all the new vans , all i can sayis my 2002 does'nt have dash speakerers but i do have the tweeters in the doors!
I find it strange that
Astro 355s 1989 has dash speakers
h2omelons 1999 Astro has 6 1/2 " speakers
my 2002 Astro has 5 /1/4" speakers and no dash speakers
Its as if there going backwards instead of improving!
I'm not complaing , just saying
Mayby they needed room for something else in the dash but plenty of room to fit 6 1/2" in the doors (must of been trying to save money

If it helps, there is plenty of room in my doors for speakers, my van just doesn't have any. It was probably just whatever GM got on sale each year.

i wonder who want´s to put original speakers in his van? They sound quite fine, but still....i have build soundsystems in different cars about 5 years and the car is the worse place to look for the bet acoustics.....car is the most difficult soundsystem building place....but selecting quality products u save money and efford...by jusing 2 pairs a good quality speaker sets and stereos u get good sounds....and u don´t need any subwoofwers.....if u have good speakers and they sound like shit, the problem might be in the stereos...i find sonys systems poor ones, but by clarion, cervin vega, pioneer, spl and vdo u can find quite good sets and the price should sute ur wallet :)

quick question on the speaker topic.. my rear door speakers are riveted in.. do i just drill out the rivets or is there an easier way? I have never seen someone rivet so many things in a vehicle as there are in my safari

I recently replaced the crappy existing system in my 01 safari with a sony explode package deal for $118.00 from big city audio. It came with 6 1/2 " speakers that fit beautifully. That coupled with a 8" powered bazooka rocks my work van just fine. The deck is 50w x4 and has a usb on the face.Life is good

Same here, can you remove a rivet without a tool?
Drill, air chisel, Dremel....something like that is the only way. They're a PITA.

Hmmm, I have a 03 safari awd with the 5 1/4" and seperate tweeters in the front doors the 4x6 in the rear pillars, but nothing in the rear doors. I would like to upgrade, I have a eclipse receiver from a previous van, but not sure on good speakers to fit this van. in my bronco i have jvc and kicker, a concert on wheels!! would like something like that for my van, but want to retain factory locations and wont mind putting speakers in the rear doors so what did you guys do ?? i like bass, but not the vibrating kind the youngsters are into, if i want to vibrate i'll get on my bike.

Does your van have a bulkhead n it, im thinking of putting n a tube my work van, mine has a bulkhead n it, n i was just weighing my options, on tube or under seat box. In n the van more than my other cars so would b nice just to have some clean sounds.
