yes, I'm fairly certain that I won't go any larger than 33X11.5. I had wanted to go with 12.5's but I know that they would stick out a crazy amount from the side of the van and that my gas mileage would tank. I know from 18 years experience with my FJ40.
Wow this is old thread that ssbf1 dug up.... First time I have read it.... But I love this snippet quote from above....

I kinda got sidetracked with other mods but I am still hoping to do the fender flares. I have 35" X 12.5 tires now too. Gas mileage is at 9.5mpg because I drive like an ***.

The best slider mod I have tried to date was moving the outer channel out from the body by 3/4". Problem with this mod is that you can only go about 1/4" out and still keep the trim piece on the side of the van...the piece that covers the channel and makes it look pretty. The slider also requires two hands pressing against it to close and latch properly with this mod. I promptly undid it once I discovered the side effects.

I have considered cutting and welding in the lower half of the door, cut at about floor height. I'm holding off on permanent modifications because I'm sure someday soon the slider will clear the top of the tires.

Any update on fender flares? I'm hoping someone has finally started making them.

There are some very complicated issues to sort with fitting any type of "bushwacker" style fender flare on the front, being that it will overlap onto the door. I have ideas to remedy that but it's way low on my list of to-dos being that my van just sits in the driveway collecting bird shit. I have a $500 set of Bushwackers here waiting to get cut up someday.

isn't gonna fly for the front fender. I have been looking for weeks and think the 93-97 Ford Ranger XL, Sport, STX, XLT fenders look pretty similar to our vans. I am mostly interested in a Cut Out Bushwacker style flare so I can cram massive tires under my van, but here's some pix of the Pocket Style Bushwackers to get an idea of the shape:
I have a question, could you tell me what make and model is the grille guard that the gmc safari has?🙏🏻
