I've noticed that this has been a hot topic recently. I'm not a fan of the video posted by "Revit Auto" on YouTube because he breaks the shock absorber's stud.

Video shows the proper tool to remove/tighten the top nut, and shows that you don't need a lift. I didn't even jack up the rear of the van for the rear shocks. Video also shows all recommended shock absorber replacements by brand. Enjoy!

That's your video?! You are now a celebrity!(y):)
While not in the process of doing said job myself, I think it looks very clear and concise. Good lighting, camera angles, focus, description of what is going on and what to expect, good clear audio. A model job of what many "how to" vids should aspire to.
Now if you can get sponsorship by those recommended brands, you're on your way! Keep it real like this though. Don't sell out.;)

I’m new to this but have read on other forums that if I don’t change front springs with struts the old springs will wear new struts out within a couple of years, I can’t get my head around that but thought I would ask ???

The RWD does not use struts in the front. These vans use a coil spring and a shock absorber. These pieces are "independent" of each other. The springs give the van the proper ride height, the shock absorbers "absorb" wheel "bounces."
