Okay so here's the deal.
I took my 92' EXT 4.3L (Z) to get my emissions to pass. They had it for like 4 hr's. They got it to pass. I didn't really
notice it at first but now it is just too much to handle. I've got no power now!! I mean used to be able to white smoke
my tires. Now i'm lucky to get it going. Once i'm going it's not too bad. I really have to floor it to get it going after
a red light. My question is. Could it be that all they did was retard the timing and didn't return it to it's original position?
Or am i getting to much fuel? It feels as though it's "bogging" down. Or flooding if you will. I took it back a few days
later and the guy said i should have brought back right away cause now he's gotta charge me to just "look" at it.

Any suggestions? All help greatly appreciated!!!!!!

Yes that is exactly what was done. Setting the timing back a few degrees helps the emissions test, but can really cut back on power. It sounds like they had to go few extra degrees with yours. Just ask the mechanic to reset it.

Maybe have the dog house off for him so it doesn't take that long for him to adjust it back, it shouldn't cost that much if anything since you paid him in the first place. :)

Thanks Matrixx!! I'll have to take it back over there. Just frustrating when they should have put it back in the first place.
Legally, I'm not sure they could set it back. The point is to have the van pass emissions because the government wants the van to run like that.

I understand about the emissions. When i first got the van about a year ago i did a tune up(i.e. plugs, wires, points, distributor cap,oil filter, oil change, etc.) If they did have to go a few more degrees to get it to pass(which were the low carbons)then they illegally made it pass, correct? So why not set it back the way it was in the first place? It just sucks cause' i got no power! Thanks for the input though.

No, that's no illegaly making it pass. They tuned the van so it would pass emissions. Besides, in dealing with the government, two negatives don't make a positive.

And there is nothing stopping you from advancing the timing back.
