hello my Chevy astro dies. when i check the fuel pressure it was 15 psi and i find out that i need 60 to start. i change fuel filter and it steel the same and when i turn key in on position the fuel pump start pumping. does any one know the problem. and how to solve it? and if i neet to replasce the fuel pump can you tell me if i need to take of my tank? i got Chevy astro 1994 passenger thank you very much.

Welcome to the Forum
You have 2 different engines for that year.
VIN W (CPI) which needs 55-62 PSI fuel pressure
and
VIN Z (Non-CPI) which needs 9-13 PSI fuel pressure
We need to find out what "type" of motor you have in your vehicle (W or Z).
You can find this out by looking at the "8th Digit" on your VIN Plate located on the drivers side corner of the dash. You can only read that VIN plate from the outside looking through the front wind shield. Count 8 digits from left to right and what "letter" do you have stamped in that VIN Plate.

If it's the W motor with that amount of pressure, check the harness connections (the ground wire as well). The plug-in (wiring harness) you need to look at is under the van just before the fuel tank. This information is based on what you have replaced already.
Check the "Gray" wire for 12 volts which it must have to run the pump properly. Also check the ground connection the runs off that harness to the frame rail of the vehicle, make sure it isn't corroded and has a good ground contact at that bolt that holds the wire onto the frame rail.
This area needs to be looked at (wiring harness) "before" the fuel pump replacement to make sure the problem isn't in this area as well. If your getting 15 PSI with the ignition "on" and engine "off" after replacing the fuel filter and checking the wiring harness, then replace the fuel pump at this point.
