is it possible for a fuel pressure tester to leak pressure but not fuel ?

i visually inspected all the connections of the fuel pressure tester and put knapkins under them to catch any fuel that might leak out , theres no signs of any gas leaking out anywhere.

i'm testing direct pressure from the pump ( testing my fuel pump check valve) key on 59 psi and then within 4 minutes it dropped to 30 psi
i released the fuel psi from tester and about 5 minutes later did the test again , this time
key on 59 psi and then within 4 minutes it dropped to 40 psi

Hi webcat

After 2 steady readings like that, then no, it's not the pressure gauge. The gauge is showing you what is in the lines at that moment. At least you know which way to go to find the leak. Please keep us updated, Thanks.:)

To test the tank side of things, after the pump has run, clamp off the pressure and return lines, and check for drop. If it still drops, either an injector or the regulator is leaking.
