I hate to tell you this but if it were my van, I would drop the tank to make sure that the reinstallation was correct and that the floater isn't damaged. But anyways, there is three wires; black, gray and purple. Forever me yet again if I get these wrong but:

black=ground
purple=fuel pump positive
gray=fuel gauge sender

But in case of being wrong on the colors, whatever wire runs to the floater sending unit is for the fuel gauge.

Hmm

Grey - Fuel Pump (12 volts)
Purple - Sending Unit (6volts)
Black - Ground

I really hate that, I always get those colors switched around. You would know it if you pull the sending unit out of the tank, you would figure. If you switch to an autometer or such, you would use the signal wire for the sending unit, which would be PURPLE. :shock: But what you have to realize is that the fuel gauge is only as good as the signal its getting so if something is wrong if the signal, floater or sending unit, replacing your stock gauge will NOT fix your problem.

Again, I think you may have to drop the tank and reexamine the sending unit.
