i just finished installing a access door to my fuel pump on my 2003 safari, and wanted to pass on what i learned. Following 97cargocrawlers great thread i ordered the access door from McMaster (McMasterCarr p/n: 8143A14). but in the years since 97cargocrawler posted the part number they must have change the access door associated with the part number. I received a karp dsc-214m, this door doesn't have the continuous hinge but two pivot pins. I did rivet a piece of aluminum angle to the unsupported edge of the door for strength. Overall i think adding the access door is a great mod. Dropping a fuel tank to change a pump on the side of road is no fun..

You can still get this with a full hinge. It's a plumbing/mechanical access control door that can be purchased at most building supply houses.97cargocrawler said:
But I like the idea because it's a clean looking mod and future owners will know what it is. I always figured that I would screw down a piece of sheet metal and be done with it.
