Here's where I am. 350 installed and running, No servo for the trans yet. The problem now is that it's hard to start when it's warmed up. Sounds like the battery is dead but it's brand new. Played around with the timing and nothing. It bogs down in second gear.
The only thing I can think of is vapor lock but wouldn't know why that would be.

Any ideas?

make sure you have good solid connections at all of your battery cables , even at the starter
Here's a thought , spark plugs are heat sensitive!
My dad had a F150 that ran and started perfect but the minute it got hot it would run like doo doo.
mayby you could wrap some insulation around the starter ( just to test it ) to see if the heat is affecting it!

Thanks webcat. I picked up an ESC module at napa. All the other places said I needed the part number and more less didn't even have a clue what I needed.

Had to wrap a starter on a 79 z28 once but it had headers. Just hate to buy the insulator wrap and then find out it's the starter.
Had the starter tested a month ago and they said it was good.

I still have the starter from the 4.3 thinking about just switching them out and seeing if there's a difference.

Hey webcat thanks for the offer.

just put the stock 4.3 air cleaner on and it starts right up. Before I had just an old 10" chrome air cleaner I had laying around on there.
It seemed like it was pulling to much air in or something.

Now when it started hot it idles kinda low, I think the computer needs to relearn or something.

Probably wait till tomorrow for a test drive.

It shouldn't mess up the transmission without the corvette servo should it? thats the next on the list to get.

It ended up being 1 tooth off. Runs great. Idles perfect, no check engine light, starts right up. Have about 100 miles on it :layrubber:
It seems to shift perfect and overdrive seems to be fine.

What corvette servo is everyone getting? had a link for one at jegs I think for 21.99

Thanks again for all the help

I wish I would have seen this post earlier. The symptoms you listed in the original post pointed towards timing. Glad you caught it.
