I dont know if he has the mod or interest in doing the mod, but on my forum you can embed them with video# .

Here is how they work embedded:

If you want to add the mod, go to the ACP, under posting, go to bbcode

Add new code,
In the first box put:

Next box down put:

For the help line text put:
Embed Google Video

Check display on posting page box and hit submit.

Google video will embed by copying the video number (the last part of the url) and putting it between goggle tags, which the mod will give you as an option on your reply or posting page.

Thanks for the suggestion. I could do that for now I suppose. I'm not sure how secure that might be and security is a big issue for me. I'll take no chances and cannot risk this site going down because of a security hole.

I've got my eye on a video contribution at phpBB.com. [BETA] Video BBCODE (Youtube, GVideo, DailyMotion,Etc)
It is currently being developed and is in BETA stage. When (and if) it gets validated and released I'll install it and we can go crazy posting videos. For now I think we'll just have to post URL's to videos.

I like your suggestion to use BBCODE for video posting but there are SOOOO many video hosting sites that it could be a lot of work if someone wanted to post videos from somewhere other than YouTube or Google. Ya know?

YouTube and Google are the biggest video hosts and so should cover vast majority of users out there. Those who aren't can easily get set up on it. It looks like jdubbya's method can be used to implement any flash based video host without too much trouble, plus it doesn't seem like the BBcode tags would be any less secure than or [URL]. I even ran a blog site with direct HTML embedding without any security problems. Looks like it's already being done anyways:

is just an image that is linked to the video via the tag. That is how photobucket does ... play right in place in the post on our site.
