I was wondering if it is possible to somehow wire in a traditional 3.5mm aux input either in place of or in addition to the original cassette player. Its worth noting that my cassette player does not work, I have no idea why, but otherwise the radio seems to work just fine. I am essentially just trying to reliably be able to play music from my phone/ipod while still maintaining the original look of the factory radio. I'm open to any ideas as to how I can achieve this. I am perfectly fine with monkeying around with the original wiring of the head unit, as it is almost completely useless to me as is, but I am very green when it comes to electrical work. Let me know what you guys think I would appreciate any insight.

Is this one of those that uses a unused radio frequency? I have thought about getting something like that, you don't have issues with sound quality or losing the frequency when travelling?

Upon advice from another member here, I bought this.

I've had similar devices and they all sucked. This one did not. It sounds good, has a good feature list, seems well built. It follows me around in different cars. I recommend you go this route. Nothing to 'figure out' or do. I spent a lot of time coming up with not as nice a solution.

I went ahead and took your advice for now since I have encountered some other headaches to deal with. I got the transmitter a few days ago and so far I really like it. I would prefer a dedicated aux for a couple reasons but this is a great temporary solution for me. Thank you very much for the suggestion.

Thanks for the recommendation. I too have had several and all but one were too weak to overcome RF noise, especially from other vehicles at stoplights. The one that worked spliced into the antenna cable, so it was shielded from external RF noise. I'm currently using a cassette adapter for Bluetooth that has an internal Li rechargeable battery. Nice to not have cables dangling but annoying to recharge. Someone should make one with a tiny capstan-powered dynamo to keep it charged.
