I need your guy's help with rough idle issue

Ok, 91 astro AWD... I've changed every sensor except the TPS and the main computer and it still idles rough (rough enough it shakes your brain while your sitting at a light). It will occasionally stall but only going into reverse.

Above idle it still runs great and pulls hard with no oil burn or black smoke.

I also changed the injectors, map sensor, knock sensor, coolant sensors, egr solenoid, cleaned the egr itself (wasn't really dirty).

The van only has 250,000 kms on it so this is really tickin me off.

Put a new wire set, new plugs, new cap & rotor, checked the timing, replaced all the vac lines.

Not sure if it's related but the cruis control doesn't work either but has great vacuum going to it.

I was gonna do a V8 swap but I can't get the mounts for a reasonable price or find a good set of plans.

This is our daily driver and hauls our 4 kids around so if anyone has any ideas please let me know.

Crappy idle, threatens to stall at idle speed?
Runs fine if you rev it up a bit?

Check the EGR!!
I really hope by now that the OP got the problem fixed. Although I don't see an update.
I fixed it all right.... sold it's cranky arse :D

Well, that's definitely one way to do it. Did you get another vehicle?
Unfortuantely we moved to a crappy little city and got stuck buying an aerostar van as there are no astros or safaris here for sale :(

I do plan on buying another astro soon though :)

Man I hate FORD!!!

I love ford. I would not have made as much money as I have being a mechanic without Ford.
Ya I see your point... 4 yrs training +crappy vehicles that break down alot = great career choice :D

Hey if your a Ford tech maybe you can answer this for me... this van is a 92 aerostar sport with the 3.0L Vulcan V6 and a 5 speed trans... if it's the least bit humid outside it'll flood itself as soon as you try to start it.... but ONLY on the first start of the day.... what's its problem in life?

It'll start at 30°C and at -30°C but not if it rains....lol
This thread is starting to give me the creeps. Too much use of the "F" word.

:eek:bscene-tolietcrapper: This thread needs to be locked and flushed.

:law-policered: Where is a moderator or administrator when you need one?

:eek:bscene-moneypiss:FORD
I know I know.... I don't like the F word either but i'm stuck driving it till I can find another Stro.

Yeah, I was about to say it was a condensation problem. Is it throwing any codes, probably not, but I figured I'd ask first.
No codes at all.... very odd eh
No, not really. It happens every once and a while. I can't remember off the top of my head. Its something about moisture will make the ecm think the air is colder than it actually is. I can't remember which sensor it is, I get back to you later. Like you said, once you get the engine warm, you are fine. Damn alzheimer's! :banghead:
