Hello,

I have a '92 awd with cpi injection and a flo-pro muffler, I want to make my van shift as hard as possible without removing the tranny (if I had the time/money i would swap in a 5spd). I was looking at the b&m shift kit and was wondering if I choose the hardest shift setting, will I have good results since the astro has relativley low power (compared to a v8)? Does horsepower have anything to do with it? And also i have read that the corvette servo will improve the shifts aswell, can it be combined with the shift kit? Does anyone use ATF fluid in thier 700r4's?

Does anyone have a recomendation on a good online retailer that I can order everything from?

Thanks.

I hear the TransGo HD2 shift kits paired with the Corvette servo does a nice job firming up the shifts. Oregon Performance Transmission has treated several people well.

Why do you want hard shifts? I like mine smooth, so I'm wondering why one would want to feel them.

Well the standard has been a Trans-Go shift kit with a vett servo and a .5 boost valve.I think TCI takes that steps beyond that standard. The servo is larger, the boost valves are larger and with their constant pressure valve bodies,it eliminates the need for the adjustment of the TV cable giving 200 psi all the time. Here is the link:

What do you mean by "does anyone use ATF fluid?"???

We all do.

If you mean "type F" fluid, it will def. firm up your shifts.........then you can bring it to me for a rebuild in about 100 miles.

Can I put in the shift kit and servo without the boost valve? I Read that you have to remove the transmission to replace the boost valve is that right?

I don't want to replace the tranny, I know that a proper rebuild would get me the best shifts I just don't want to spend the money right now.

I should have typed "type-f" (I didn't think that thru ) I only ask because, I put a B&M shift kit in a 727 torque flite and the instructions said to use B&M trickshift or type-F. I know its a totaly different transmission, but why is it so hard on the GM transmission? I've always been told that the ford oil is not as "slippery" so it allows the clutches to grab with less slipping, creating less heat.

The GM clutches are designed to slide on and slide off. That nasty type F stuff just shreds the clutch facing.

You know what regular dexron fluid feels like in your fingers, right? Get a splash of type F. You'll notice what is different right away, then you'll see why it ruins GM trannies.
